RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS

What’s this “Random Acts of Kindness” thing all about?

The purpose of the project is to perform selfless acts of kindness with no expectations. The kindnesses can be shown to friends and family, strangers, businesses, or even to oneself. The steering committee presently includes Linette Greske, Maria Stress, Amy Greske, Karen Meyer, Diane Doheny, Kathy Fuchs, Betty Freier, and Courtney Nelson.

Knowing that most of you are presently doing many acts of kindness without giving them thought, we invite you to join us as we intentionally perform “Random Acts of Kindness?”

If you have questions about providing gift cards or anything else relating to the “Random Acts of Kindness” project, contact Linette at 651-233-3326.

Random Acts of Kindness Report for 2022

In April of 2023, Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) will celebrate its 3-year anniversary.  Although anyone from anywhere is encouraged to engage in the activities of RAK, a core group of dedicated people meets monthly to identify needs not only in the Ellsworth community but also beyond and then make certain those needs are met.

Major accomplishments of RAK in 2022 include:

  • Free CPR classes were offered to and held for the general public.

  • The drive-through steak dinner benefited not only RAK but also OCWM.

  • A “10 Random Acts in 30 Days Challenge” resulted in $100 donations being given to the Pierce County Food Pantry, Friends of the Ellsworth Public Library, and St. Croix Hospice.

  • Fifty-five individuals were entertained when RAK provided mini golf in the East End Park as part of the Summer Fun Series.

  • School clothing was purchased for two families.

  • Seven classes in the Spring Valley Schools were each given $50 to help ensure that every child could purchase books during the Scholastic Book Sale.

  • Over 300 pairs of socks were delivered to Grace Place Homeless Shelter in New Richmond and Positive Alternatives in River Falls as a result of the Socktober event.

  • The Pierce County Food Pantry was once again the “winner” through the efforts of the Gobbler Gallop held Thanksgiving morning.

  • The Giving Tree was supported to help provide a happy holiday for the families sponsored through St. Paul’s United Church of Christ.

In addition to the above, RAK continues to provide kits for the foster care program in Pierce County.  RAK also provides local Salvation Army volunteer Karen Meyer with gift cards to both Nilssen’s Food and the Family Dollar so people in crisis receive them while still being able to maintain anonymity.  Through our presence, partnering and networking RAK is becoming known in the community as the group who does just what it's called – Random Acts of Kindness.
